Aussie style western food @ AMK

This is a little Aussie style fish & chips stall @ AMK coffeeshop next to Courts. They serve very decent food at reasonable prices. This is grilled salmon :) Nice!

Ramen @ Pickering Street

Once i had 2 consecutive days of ramen at the same ramen outlet: the thing is that i forgot the name of this ramen restaurant so i'll just term it as Ramen @ Pickering Street. But the thing is that recently there is quite a number of ramen outlets mushrooming @ Pickering Street, so well.....it's like a pseudo ramen street.

Miso Ramen

Tonkatsu ramen: their house specialty - i ordered this becos of the yolk.

Chilli ramen

Shoyu Ramen

Can't remember what i like most - i think i prefer the shoyu one.

En Dining & Bar @ Robertson Quay

This is one of the places my jap director wanted to treat me to when i was still working with the firm. It was brimming with lots of jap expats when my bf and i walked past one night after dinner. And we decided we would come by to try the food the next time. So here we are!
1) Deep fried bitter gourd - very crispy and nicely salted.

2) Mekajiki sushi - very good, rice ball is rightly small. oh i dislike the usual fat lumps of rices served at most sushi outlets...where i can taste mostly rice. but this is so right...small lump of rice with nice piece of sashimi. yum!

3) yellowtail sushi - very good too! one of the best i've eaten!

4) Okinawa soba - pretty nice :)

5) Grilled pork: nicely roasted, fats melting. yum!

7) caramel tofu dessert - very good too!

Lim Chee Guan

Ok this is not a pic of food, but a pic of the bee queue for the famous Lim Chee Guan BBQ pork a couple of weeks before chinese new year. I went by myself to queue for it during lunch hours, and ended up lugging back 6 kilos or $300 worth of BBQ pork. I can't taste the diff between this and the usual Mei Zhen Xiang.

Brussel Sprouts @ Robertson Quay

Bf wanted to try mussels @ Brussel Sprouts. A starter size costs $18 while main size is $36 i think. The Starter is 250g while Main is 500g i think.

Mussels presented in varied cooking styles.
This is imprinted on the tables. Cool mussels!
We ordered 2 Starter pots since i was pretty full after eating at ard 5pm. And since my bf has stomach flu, we ordered something mild - Brussel Sprouts special & A la Bierre Blanche.
I found both too bland. But the mussels are tender and juicy. Think we should go back for their creamy & spicy versions when stomach is working again.

They serve free flow of chunky fries. Just that it's weird to dip into bland juices. Sigh.

We ordered crusty bread too. And again, it's weird to dip into bland juices. So sad. Regreted ordering the bland versions. Next time, next time.

Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao @ Suntec

Soon after the Imperial Palace La Mian meal, i had a funny idea of wanting to compare the quality, so we pop by Crystal Jade. But we didn't end up ordering the same dishes so cannot compare apple to apple lah.

1) Some turnip pastry. While the filling is similar to my fave Carrot pastry in Imperial, this is a less tasty variant.

2) Xiao Long Bao: i used to like the ones here cos it's bigger than Din Tai Fung's. But the skin not so delicate and thin though. Guess Din Tai Fung's still better.

3) Chicken Soup lamian: okay i'm here for the soup, not the chicken or lamian. This is really comfort soup. Yum.

4) Sesame ball with red bean filling: this is the common one sold everywhere but the ones here are extra fragrant, yummy and piping hot. One of the best i've eaten so far!

Toast @ OUB Centre

Toast @ OUB is one of my fave places to get salads, wraps and paninis. Under the Marmalade Group, toast has shown high consistent quality but unfortunately we had to pay Svc Charge for toast takeaways. sigh.

I like their variety of salads. Usually i'll go for their wildrice salad.

The lady making my chicken avocado wholemeal wrap. Yum. Oh my bf loved this!

Mos burger

I like Mos Burger :) Trying out their promo: milkshake with some toppings like cornflakes and cranberries. And some burger....gosh, i forgot what this is! Somce chicken i believe. Goes to show that it does not impress me enough to remember....hehe.

Isetan Supermart @ Lido

Everytime i pass by Isetan Supermart @ Lido, i'll just pop in to see what Special Fair is on. And this time is some strawberry fair. Got some little snacks and strawberry ice cream.

And this other time is some Hokkaido fair:

Takoyaki!

Some noodle - i didn't quite like esp the 2 balls are actually tasteless riceballs

this bento is good, but think it costs > $20. the ikura is good, but not very fresh. the king crab is very sweet and tasty, the salted salmon and salmon flakes is good, the uni is one of the worst i've eaten - very very pungent and with a strong liquored taste. i won't ever buy uni from here again.

Hamoru Jap Restaurant @ Food Republic (Wisma/Suntec)

One sat after my spa, i went to Wisma Food Republic for lunch since my bf had his already.
And i discovered this little gem in Wisma's Foodcourt :)

1) Tokyo Ramen: It's quite okay, and i'm surprised to find that the egg is nicely soft on the inside.

2) shiro maguro sushi (white tuna) - this marinated white tuna is amazing! it's creamy, melt in the mouth and so tasty! You gotta try this! This is the GEM in this little jap counter.

3) Shiok Sushi: this comprised of grilled eel, avocado and rice wrapped with slices of salmon. The salmon was then slightly seared on top and sprinkled with crab roe. Yum!

My bf hesitant to eat my creation -> an indian popadum on top of shiok sushi :P

Ayam Penyet @ Lucky Plaza

Endina had brought me to this little gem in the midst of Orchard road - for a mere $6, you can have a delicious meal in aircon comfort. This cafe on the 3rd floor of Lucky Plaza serves delicious Ayam Penyet and other authentic Surabaya delicacies.
Met Endina for dinner and we decided to head here again for their gado gado!

1) Gado Gado: One of the most delicious gado gado i've ever had.

2) Crispy Pomfret: For a healthier version, we ordered Pomfret instead of their Chicken. Yum!

My dinner mate EnDiNa :P

Roast Meat Shop @ Phillip Street

I'll come by this coffeeshop @ Phillip Street for lunch whenever i crave for some unhealthy but delicious Roast Duck! Oh and they serve delicious char siew, roast pork, roast chicken, soy sauce chicken, roast pork ribs even! Yum Yum. The big plate of roast meat in the picture is my lunch - now you know how much i can gobble! :D

And yes, you do have to stand in a super long queue to enjoy this treat!

Imperial Palace La Mian Xiaolongbao @ Marina Sq

The usual dinner hangouts we go to after work are Suntec, Marina Sq, Central Mall & Robertson Quay- since all these are located within 5 mins drive from Raffles Place, where i work. So this evening we were at Marina Sq and decided to dine @ Imperial Palace's La Mian XiaoLongBao because my bf knows i'm in love with their Fluffy Carrot Pastry.

1) Dan Dan Mian - Ok, why i ordered this is because i had this strong craving for peanut sauce noodles. However i had expected it to be dry like those served in Din Tai Fung, but it came looking like a spicy soup. Haha. Taste-wise is okay, met my cravings too. But too much of this thing is very gelat. A mini bowl would do better.

2) Zha Jiang Mian: My bf ordered this cos he wanted something bland and simple. Well, this is exactly what he wanted - bland and simple - hahah, at least it's what i thought. But he did rather enjoy it :) For me, i like it with lotsa vinegar and chilli!

3) Fluffy Carrot Pastry: okay now you know what i came for - this fluffy-oh-so-delicious-piping hot-melt in your mouth-pastry! Trust me. It tastes so much better than it looks. And you'll have to wait to get your pastry - they make as per order only.

4) Pumpkin pie: This chewy pumpkin pie with a sweet red bean filling (i think so) is the highlight of my bf's dinner. It's light, not overly sweet, and very tasty.
