Kuriya @ Lido Shaw

Happily hopped to Kuriya to try their seasonal specials: for Sept
I prefer this outlet much more than the one @ Raffles city.
The waitress recommended me the following:

Specialty no 1: 秋刀鱼 ( think it should be pacific saury or sanma)
I had it half sashimi, half grilled (below).
The raw sashimi had a little pungent smell, the likes of mackeral.
It is recommended to dip in soy sauce with minced ginger and spring onions (instead of wasabi). This combination is heavenly! Superb!

Specialty no 2: Matsutake mushroom teapot soup
Soup has strong herbal taste - i wondered if it's contributed by that mushroom, which tasted equally strong.
I had felt that it's not for value for about $25 for such a tiny portion.
Until i realised that this breed is hard to harvest and hence is highly priced.
Quality ones are $2000 / kg; average is $90/kg.

California handroll:
I was still hungry - thanks to the tiny soup. Ordered a handroll: it actually tastes better than it looks. Not too bad.
