Senso @ Club Street

For my bday celebration, Bf had made reservations at Nogawa @ Le Meridian but i wanted to dine at Senso cos we had Jap food for lunch. And what a Bad Move.

Complimentary bread: warm but ordinary

Complimentary starter: Morsel of prawn
Chilled. Nicely succulent.

Soup: Lobster Bisque
Reminded me of the Adam Rd Big Prawn Noodle Broth.
Sigh, i think the $5 broth beats this!
The meat is quite succulent though.

Appetiser: Mozerella cheese with rocket leaves
Perhaps i came with too high expectations since from raved reviews, it's supposedly to be very different from out-of-the-mill mozerella. It's chewy and the saltishness constrasts well with the bitterness of the arugula. Not bad.

My main: Ossobucco ( Braised Veal Shanks on mashed potatos)
Rather salty; i didn't quite enjoy. Bf quite liked it.

Bf main course: Grilled Slab of wild cod
It's nicely crisp on the outside, and quite nicely done.
However it lacks the freshness and tasted a little bland, a common problem of frozen meats.

Dessert: Tiramisu ( half a slice as shown above)
We had wanted to order a Tiramisu each, fortunately we did not:
The waiter kindly divided the dessert into 2 portions, and served us separately.
This dessert saves the 'night'! The BEST tiramisu i have ever had!
Very wobby and creamy! YUM!

Would return to Senso ONLY for their tiramisu. Nice service.
But food is not worth the $200++ bill incl wine.
Patrons are mostly europeans.
